Happy Birthday, My Overly Caffeinated Foodie

Happy birthday to my food and coffee obsessed partner, Jo-Jo. I’ve asked him his favorite places from home and travel this year, and this is what he said:

1. Bangkok, Thailand

LEK & RUT SEAFOOD เจ้าแรกเยาวราช in China Town, you eat on the street as traffic zips by.

4. Los Angeles, California

Urth Cafe because it’s casual, has good food and European-like, says Jon. And then, he changed his mind mid-thought to a new fave, Cafe Gratitude.

5. Portland, Oregon

Pok Pok is one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in the U.S.

6. Porto, Portugal

Taberna do Largo – they are very friendly. So friendly, we forgot to take photos.

7. Prague, Czech Republic

Bitcoin Cafe and Paper Hub at Paralelni Polis felt like home and because they took bitcoin.

8. San Diego, California

Tostadas North Park had hella good food. Fresh AF.

9. San Francisco, California

La Taqueria has perfected the burrito ratio of meat to salsa wrapped in a grilled tortilla. Don’t forget to ask for it ‘Dorado’ style.

10. San Mateo, California

Jon is a local at Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen because he orders the same thing, a salmon wrap. I wonder if he told the owner we won’t see him for a while.

11. Santa Cruz, California

Pono Hawaiian Grill feels pretty much like Hawaii with ono poke on everything, surf videos on loop and dudes singing nightly with ukeleles.

12. Taipei, Taiwan (so far)

開燈咖啡 Dawn Surf & Co. Cafe feels like home on the other side of the world with good coffee and fast internet.
