Piñata Folding Guide

Popsicle Piñata (Difficulty: Medium)

  1. Open up your Love With Food box and lay it flat.
  2. Fold it over so that the A and E touch and keep them together with a Love With Food Chip Clip or binder clip.
  3. Let C be your guide and draw a rounded edge on D to match.
  4. Directly below the letter C, draw a small square just big enough to fit your candy and not fall out.
  5. Place a cardboard box underneath and carefully cut around the small square and the rounded drawing on D with a boxcutter.
  6. Now fold sides A and B as usual and tape the box close.
  7. To close up C and D we’re going to need another strip of cardboard from another Love With Food subscription box (from the DIY Lego piñata or another cardboard box). Cut out a strip approximately 9.5” long x 2.25” wide.
  8. Draw two holes with your marker and puncture it with something sharp. Then, push a pen through the holes and enough string to hold the piñata up.
  9. Now let’s make the popsicle stick! Take another cardboard box and draw a rounded edge rectangle. Then, place a cardboard box underneath and carefully cut it out with your boxcutter.
  10. If you’re using a brown cardboard box, you can leave it as is. If not, wrap it with gold tissue paper or a brown paper bag.
  11. Tape the popsicle stick to the back of the box securely with tape.
  12. Let’s dress up the popsicle in fun and bright colored paper! Take out your crepe paper or tissue paper. If you’re using tissue paper cut it in strips and add an optional fringe by cutting into the strips three-quarters of the way in.
  13. If you’re using multiple colors, lay the strips down flat and arrange your color palate to your liking. Now, you’re ready to wrap the box with colorful paper and tape. Slightly overlap the colored paper for a fun fringe effect and don’t forget about the flap at the back! Take care to hide the flap but make sure to leave some extra wiggle room for you to fill up the piñata.
  14. Once you’ve wrapped the box and securely taped it down, you can finally fill it up with small treats!
